After being re-elected Surrey Leader today at the county council’s annual meeting, David Hodge:
- says thoughts are with “those who have been affected by the terrible events in Manchester last night”
- welcomes Mary Lewis, Denise Turner-Stewart, Colin Kemp and Tim Oliver to the new Cabinet and John Furey as Deputy Leader
- outlines challenges as funding and demand pressures mean saving more than £100m over this financial year alone
- sets out that “very tough decisions” are required and savings will need to rise to £700m by the end of the decade.
