Surrey County Council’s Cabinet has approved plans for more than 550 extra school places to be created in Spelthorne and Tandridge.
Plans to expand three schools were approved at a meeting on Tuesday 26 September – a secondary in Ashford, a secondary in Caterham and a junior school in Oxted.
An extra 300 places are set to be created at Thomas Knyvett College, Ashford, with more information available here, while in Tandridge, an extra 150 places are planned for De Stafford School in Caterham, with more detail here, and an extra 120 are planned for St Mary’s Church of England Junior School, Oxted. Mary Lewis, Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, said: “Thousands more school places will be needed across Surrey over the coming years at a time when our finances are coming under increasing pressure from rising need across our care services. We’re calling for fair funding for the task we face in meeting demand for school places across the county.”
