VIDEO: Surrey deputy leader John Furey on London and neighbours working closer together

Following the launch of a report by the Centre for London and the Southern Policy Centre about the capital and the South East working more closely together to address the challenges of economic and population growth, Surrey County Council deputy leader John Furey said the move could offer “huge opportunities”.

The report, entitled Next-door Neighbours – Collaborative Working Across The London Boundary – sets out a number of ways in which the economies and populations of London and the wider South East depend on each other. It highlights that nearly 5% of school places offered by the county council for 2017/18 were to children living outside the county while 3.7% of Surrey schoolchildren were offered places in neighbouring education authorities.
