VIDEO AND MAP: RideLondon’s multi-million pound boost for Surrey sporting good causes

Grassroots groups have been awarded more than £3million to improve sport and leisure facilities thanks to Surrey’s role in the Prudential RideLondon cycling festival.

Dozens of Surrey projects have secured grants from The London Marathon Charitable Trust since the inaugural RideLondon-Surrey events in 2013.

The London Marathon Charitable Trust awards grants to recreational projects in areas where London Marathon Events Ltd organises events as a way of thanking communities for their support. Details of how to apply are on The Trust’s website.

Surrey County Council’s Cabinet agreed to continue hosting the RideLondon-Surrey events in 2020 and to consult residents and others before making decisions about 2021 to 2026. More information can be found here and here.

A report to Cabinet outlined £2.5million in grants from 2013 to 2017 and another £242,000 specifically for playing fields. Further recent grants take the total awarded to more than £3million, with full details available here and here.

Prudential RideLondon returns to Surrey for a sixth year on Sunday 29 July. For more information, visit the organiser’s website.
