The changes are:
Service 28 – Woking, Brookwood, Pirbright, Worplesdon, Guildford
The council has worked with Falcon Buses to provide an hourly service, an improvement on the current service which runs every 90 minutes.
Service 41/42 – Ash, Ash Vale, Farnborough
By working with operator Stagecoach, the route is changing to include Tongham and Frimley Park Hospital. It will just be known as service 41.
Service 500 – Staines, Sunningdale, Windlesham, Lightwater, Bagshot, Camberley, Frimley Park Hospital
Following local requests, White Bus has agreed that it will also serve Ambleside Road in Lightwater.
Service 22 – Holmbury St. Mary, Dorking, Leigh, Charlwood, Horley, Gatwick Airport, Crawley
Metrobus will run an extra journey from Charlwood to Gatwick Airport at 6.30am and returning at 6.55pm. These additional services are being funded by Gatwick to help residents working shifts or wishing to connect with trains at the airport.
Mike Goodman, Cabinet Member for Environment and Waste, said: “Our buses are a lifeline for many residents, so it’s fantastic news these routes are being extended. These services are subsidised by Surrey County Council so we work hard to meet local demand and improve access to key services like Frimley Park Hospital.
“Road vehicles are a major contributor to poor air quality so taking public transport helps the environment. So why not take a look at what bus routes operate in your area and see if you can make a change?”
There is also a new service being launched by White Bus linking Frimley Park Hospital with Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot via Portsmouth Road in Frimley, Ravenswood, Crawley Hill, Camberley and Bracknell. This service, the X94, will have four journeys each way on weekdays.
