Surrey Fire and Rescue Service began taking 999 calls for both West Sussex and Surrey as of yesterday (Wednesday 4 December 2019).
Control Operators will despatch firefighters and fire engines from West Sussex to emergencies in their county from the joint control room. It will not affect the level of service provided to anyone calling 999.
Surrey Fire and Rescue Service was selected by West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS) for its ‘tried and tested market leading mobilising system.’ This arrangement will increase resilience and staffing numbers and is likely to result in efficiency savings for Surrey Fire and Rescue Service.
