Surrey County Council is to receive Local Government Association funding to find ways to encourage people living and working in Surrey to travel to work sustainably.
Matt Furniss, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “This funding will help us identify different ways to encourage and enable Surrey residents and people working in the county to take a more sustainable option to get to work. This is because reducing solo car journeys will help to tackle climate change, improve air quality and make our roads less congested.
“We’ll be trialling this with staff at the Surrey Research Park and at the county council to find out what will motivate them to car pool, use public transport or try active ways of getting around like cycling or walking.”
