Council Leader Tim Oliver statement on new University of Surrey medical school

Commenting on the establishment of a medical school at the University of Surrey, Cllr Tim Oliver, SCC leader, said: “The creation of a medical school at the University of Surrey is amazing news and coming so soon after the outstanding research and evaluation framework results, firmly establishes it as a top-tier university with a global outlook. Combined with the excellent reputation Surrey has for pharmaceutical and technological innovation, this means we will continue to be at the cutting edge of medical care. I am looking forward to working with the university and the new medical school to support its establishment and development, and in due course to welcome the first class of students as they become part of our Surrey Story.”
