Surrey Fire and Rescue Service welcomes new firefighters

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) proudly welcomed the newest cohort of firefighters and Joint Fire Control operators during a pass out parade on Sunday (19 April).

The parade celebrated 15 full-time firefighters from Surrey and eight Control Room Operators, who have officially completed their training.

Speaking of the event Dan Quin, Chief Fire Officer, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome our newest colleagues to our service, as well as meet their loved ones at the pass out parade.

Having shown great commitment and resilience throughout their training, we’re proud to welcome them to the team and look forward to the difference they will make in their vital roles. Congratulations again to all and a special thanks to our Learning and Development team for their dedicated and thorough training and mentorship provided.”

They will be joining the crews in our control room mobilising for Surrey, West Sussex and East Sussex, as well as fire stations in Banstead, Camberley, Chertsey, Farnham, Godstone, Guildford, Painshill, Salfords, and Walton supporting the whole of Surrey.

This pass out parade is a proud moment for the new team members, marking the completion of their training and the beginning of their service to the community.

SFRS is also encouraging members of the public to consider a career in the service. Recruitment for On-Call firefighters is currently open for Chobham, Cranleigh, Dunsfold Godalming, Gomshall, Guildford, Haslemere, Lingfield, Oxted, and Walton, offering an opportunity for individuals to serve their local community while maintaining other work or personal commitments. On-Call firefighters respond to call outs from their primary employment or daytime activities (such as in between school runs).
