Inquest into the death of Sean Benton

The inquest into the death of Private Sean Benton began on Wednesday 24 January 2018.

Pte Benton died at Princess Royal Barracks, Deepcut, Surrey in June 1995. The High Court ruled in October 2016 that the inquest into his death held in July 1995 should be quashed and a fresh inquest ordered.

The new inquest is being conducted by His Honour Peter Rook QC and is being held in Court 3, HM Coroner’s Court, Station Approach, Woking, Surrey GU22 7AP.

A room near Court 3 is reserved for members of the media and public who can’t be accommodated in the courtroom. A live, real-time stream of proceedings – all the evidence being considered as part of the inquest – is screened in this room.
