Leader David Hodge outlined Surrey County Council’s new agenda to get everyone working together as one team for the benefit of the county at a briefing for Local Government Association (LGA) chairman Sir Merrick Cockell.

They were joined at County Hall by LGA vice-chairman Gary Porter, Surrey’s deputy leader Peter Martin and leaders from the county’s district and boroughs, who discussed their priorities and ways of developing closer working relationships with the LGA.

Mr Hodge said: “I’m really pleased Sir Merrick came to visit. It was an immensely useful opportunity for us to set out the county council’s approach about everyone working together as one team – whether we are a council, a voluntary group or a business – in the best interests of Surrey.”

Sir Merrick also heard about the county council’s efficiency programme of Public Value Reviews and the SE7 group of councils’ work to make savings and improve services.
