Sir Bradley Wiggins has confirmed he will ride in this year’s Tour of Britain.
The Tour de France winner will be on the start line for the eight-day cycle race, which features a stage in Surrey for the second successive year.
Surrey’s 96-mile stage will take place on Saturday, September 21, starting in Epsom and finishing in a final climb up Guildford High Street.
Sir Bradley surged to the gold medal on Surrey’s roads in the time trial at last summer’s Olympic Games but pulled out of last year’s Tour of Britain before it reached the county for the final stage.
Last year’s Tour of Britain generated almost £7.2 million for Surrey’s economy and was watched by almost one million television viewers each day.
