Surrey County Council has welcomed grants to almost 30 grassroots Surrey groups thanks to the Prudential RideLondon festival of cycling.
More than £242,000 has been given to the groups, ranging from sports clubs to community playgrounds, thanks to grants of up to £10,000 each from the London Marathon Charitable Trust, which runs the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey events that attracted thousands of riders and spectators last August.
David Hodge, Surrey County Council’s Leader, said: “It’s fantastic to think that these generous grants will benefit dozens of our grassroots clubs for many years to come, underlining both Prudential RideLondon’s legacy for Surrey communities and the economic boost that hosting the event brings.”
