Surrey County Council’s Leader has welcomed Government funding announced today as a first step towards long-term economic growth.
Almost £50 million will go into schemes to boost Surrey businesses and transport links over the next six years following a Government announcement today on local Growth Deals through local enterprise partnerships (LEPs).
David Hodge said:
“We know how much can be done if we are given the freedoms and powers to harness both the county and region’s potential for the benefit of the nation. So while this is a welcome start I look forward to ministers working with county councils and LEPs nationwide to more thoroughly recognise what we can achieve together.
“Surrey is key to the national economy, and this funding marks an important first step in addressing the improvements that we know are needed to support economic growth both here and across the country.”
