Teenager Becky Reed is so hooked on boxing she is aiming to make a career out of it thanks to the help of Surrey County Council and Catch22.

Last year the 19-year-old was classed as being NEET – not in education, employment or training. Now she is on the way to becoming a coach in the sport she loves with Guildford City Boxing Club after a spell doing voluntary work.

Becky was put on the path to a career in the ring by Surrey County Council youth workers, who still provide support, and Catch22 gave her the opportunity to achieve her boxing ambition through its opt into programme.

She has already become a tutor and is working towards formal qualifications to further her career as well as having ambitions to compete.

The county council has helped to cut the number of young people in Surrey registered as not in education, employment or training to a national low.
