Former world cycling champion to compete in Surrey

Former world road race champion Philippe Gilbert today confirmed he will join a stellar cast of cyclists on Surrey’s roads next month.

The Belgian rider will compete in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic with the likes of former Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins, sprint star Mark Cavendish and defending champion Adam Blythe on 2 August.

BBC Sport will televise the race live.

The professionals power along Surrey’s roads after a 100-mile mass participation event earlier the same day.
