Surrey County Council Chairman Sally Marks visited Pobjoy Mint in Kingswood yesterday to strike the first of a limited run of specially commissioned award medals to be presented to volunteers at a chairman’s reception next Thursday (17 September).

The event, which takes place at Burford Bridge Hotel, will celebrate those across Surrey who work tirelessly in their own time for good causes in their local communities.

Mrs Marks said: “I would like to thank Taya Pobjoy for taking the time to show me around Pobjoy Mint yesterday and I am immensely grateful to her for having offered to create medals to present to volunteers, the unsung heroes of Surrey.

“The county of Surrey is very lucky to have people such as Taya who not only run successful businesses within its borders, thus providing employment for residents, but who also understand how important it is to support our voluntary sector.”
