Deepcut inquest, HP

Inquest into Deepcut death to be held on 1 February in Woking

The inquest into the death of Cheryl James will begin at 2pm on Monday 1 February.

Miss James died of a gunshot wound in 1995 at Princess Royal Barracks, Deepcut, Surrey. The High Court ruled in 2014 that the inquest held on 21 December 1995 into the soldier’s death should be quashed and a fresh inquest held.

The new inquest will be conducted by His Honour Brian Barker QC and will be held in Court 3 at HM Coroner’s Court, Station Approach, Woking, Surrey GU22 7AP.

A room near Court 3 will be reserved for members of the media and public who can’t be accommodated in the courtroom. A live, real-time stream of proceedings – all the evidence to be considered as part of the inquest – will be screened in this room.

Please email or ring 020 8541 7259 if someone from your media organisation would like to attend. Please respond by close of play on Thursday 28 January to help in the planning of seating.
