Communities and prevention lead Rebecca Brooker talks to BBC Surrey about the work being done in the Surrey Heartlands area by the county council and the NHS to help people through social prescribing – activities or support to help combat loneliness, get fit or healthy and boost wellbeing. The interview followed the news that NHS England plans to recruit 1,000 social prescribing workers by 2021 to refer people to services such as exercise or art classes and ease the pressure on GPs.
