Surrey County Council calls for more foster carers as Foster Care Fortnight begins

Surrey County Council are proud to support ‘Foster Care Fortnight’ and will be looking to use the campaign to recruit more foster families in the county to help transform children’s lives.

Foster Care Fortnight runs from 10th – 23rd May 2021, and aims to showcase the commitment, dedication and passion of foster carers.

Surrey currently has over 1,000 ‘Looked After Children’, but more foster carers are needed in the county to provide a home for them all. Over the fortnight the council will be highlighting the rewards of fostering by sharing personal testimonies from foster carers as well as children and young people living in foster care.

The campaign is also a great opportunity to recognise the contribution of the whole of the fostering community following what has been an extremely challenging year. The council wants to celebrate and say thank you to Surrey fostering services, social workers, and our own fostering helpline for their work during this period.

If you are interested in finding out more about fostering, visit Surrey County Council’s website, take a look at our online events or call our helpline on 0800 0969 626 (Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm).

If you have a press query or would like to arrange an interview with an existing foster carer in Surrey, please contact the Surrey County Council press office on 0208 5418 996.
