Surrey Fire and Rescue Service staged a mock incident which saw firefighters ‘evacuate’ dozens of people playing the role of casualties from a disused building in Staines. The building was specifically chosen because it has a complicated layout inside.
Robert Weldon-Gamble, Surrey Fire and Rescue Group Commander Central Response, said: “We hope an incident like this never happens but our firefighters need to be ready for anything to keep our communities safe.
“This exercise is part of a wider ongoing programme of training which covers all types of incident our firefighters may face.”
